Povzetek:

Do you know what a regular polyhedron is? Have you ever seen one on the sidewalk? Do you know how many of them there are? In the talk, I will tell you a story, a story that starts in ancient Greece and goes all the way to this century. This story goes around the questions above and how they have had different answers across different periods of time.

 

Antonio is a mathematician and postdoctoral fellow at the University of Ljubljana. After completing his PhD in UNAM Mexico, he worked as a postdoc in York University (Toronto ON, Canada) and IM UNAM (Mexico City, Mexico). He joined the University of Ljubljana in 2022 and has been working at UL FMF ever since, and most recently at UL PeF.  His work focuses on symmetries of mathematical structures such as polygons, polyhedra and graphs. Besides doing research, he usually teaches courses in discrete mathematics, geometry, and algebra and enjoys talking about the mathematics that he is passionate about.
